Scroll DownFrom an urban perspective, the hospital complex today resembles a large neighborhood more than a hospital because it comprises of 46 buildings inside the Umbertine walls, plus 8 more external structures. According to article 46 of the consolidated law on higher education, approved with Reggio decree 3108/1933 n.1562, the connection between the pavilions and services of the Policlinico Umberto I in Rome to the University of Rome is intended for the needs of expansion and modernization of the clinics and institutes of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery. The perimeter of the main complex is more than two kilometers long.
The State Property Agency transferred the state-owned real estate complex to the University of Rome “Sapienza” with a deed dated 15 October 2009. Later, with a deed dated 20 December 2010, Sapienza transferred the properties to the Azienda Policlinico Umberto I, regulating their use and maintenance.
The Policlinico is close to Termini Station in the city’s heart and is accessible via a variety of public transportation options. It is the Roman Hospital (and one of the Italian hospitals) with the largest Emergency and Urgency Department due to its accessibility, presence of nearly all medical and surgical specialties, and availability of emergency services operating continuously, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
We are able to demonstrate our dedication to providing care that is centered on the needs of the patient and highlight the positive difference that we have made in the lives of our patients.
