The building of the hospital began in 1889, then in 1992 the hospital underwent a large-scale renovation. In 2001, the medical facility gained the title of a teaching hospital of the Charite University Hospital Berlin. The medical center unites 15 specialized departments, where a highly skilled medical team of more than 1,400 workers works for the benefit of their patients. The medical facility yearly accepts about 25,000 inpatients, and about 28,000 more outpatients. The hospital has 780 beds.
The hospital is proud of having prestigious quality certificates, such as DIN EN ISO 9001:2015, a certification of the German Society of Vascular Surgery and Vascular Medicine and the German Society for Angiology, a certification of the German Diabetes Association, and the German Society of Nephrology. Since 2016, the hospital has been a part of the Qualitätsnetzwerk Geriatrie.
The patients of the Evangelical Hospital Queen Elizabeth Herzberge Berlin live in comfortable and cozy rooms with a modern design. Each patient room has a private bathroom with a shower and a toilet. The normal patient room items include a comfy and instantly adjustable bed, a bedside table, a closet, a TV, a radio and a telephone. The guest rooms have Wi-Fi.
The patients are also offered housing in the improved comfort rooms. These rooms have a more polished design, as well as a sitting area with upholstered furniture, a safe, a mini-fridge, and a large flat-screen TV. The improved comfort rooms have a roomy bathroom with a large mirror, a hairdryer, toiletries, a bathrobe and blankets.
