The HM Rivas University Hospital has been built with everything that was learned about how to care for people during the pandemic in mind. It has large and separate waiting areas. All of the technical systems needed to turn some parts of the hospital into respiratory isolation units in the event that it becomes necessary.

The center has 45 general hospitalization beds spread out over three floors, an ICU with 6 posts, and a Day Hospital with 7 posts. It also includes a radiodiagnostic service with high-field magnetic resonance imaging and a multislice CT scan.  Additionally, the center provides conventional radiology and high-resolution ultrasound services. There is also a Women’s Unit offering Tomosynthesis, breast ultrasound, and a breast intervention program. There are 24 consultations available in all kinds of fields at the hospital.

When running a hospital, one of the most important natural factors to think about is how much energy is used. Since this hospital will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year, HM Hospitales has put in a lot of work to try to cut down on the amount of energy it uses.

• In construction: The surfaces are insulated against heat loss with twice as many layers of insulation as the technical building code calls for. To prevent energy loss, the blind box is outside and the metal window frames include thermal breaks.
  The low-e glass has cool-light technology, and the hot and cold production systems are state-of-the-art. They include high-efficiency chillers and wall-mounted condensing boiler batteries whose operation is always adjusted to meet demand;
• Water: The amount of water used has been cut down to a minimum by installing toilets with aerators and flow reducers and WC cisterns with low volumes and double pulses;
  
• Air conditioning: The building’s air conditioning is centrally controlled. Thus, users have limited control, ensuring comfort within a good usage range. The building will also have a photovoltaic solar plant with 80 KW;
• Certifications: The center has a category B energy rating because of the things above.

HM Hospitales’ global network includes the new HM Rivas center, which uses the same computer system. This unified structure lets professionals share clinic histories and test results across teams for the best accurate diagnosis and customized treatments for each patient.

This networking also makes it easier to automatically record data, send electronic prescriptions, control the way drugs are given by figuring out which drug goes with which patient, and centralize information in nurse controls, among other things.
