Scroll DownIn April 2019, HM Hospitales said it had bought more than 75% of the shares in Barcelona’s famous Sant Jordi Clinic. So, the Sant Jordi Clinic will be renamed HM Sant Jordi and become the second hospital center of HM Hospitales in Barcelona. The goal is to create a healthcare, teaching, and research project similar to the one the Group has in the Community of Madrid.
The HM Sant Jordi Hospital is a medical-surgical and obstetric hospital in Barcelona. It is in the Plaza de la Estación area of the Sant Andreu neighborhood.
In Catalonia, “brotherhoods” are groups of people who help each other. In 1925, Dr. Josep Dencàs Puigdollers joined forces with a colleague, Dr. Agust Mar Guinart, and with the moral and financial support of Dr. Josep Cararach Mauri, they opened the Clnica Sant Jordi in Placa de l’Estació de Sant Andreu, which is where they were already practicing medicine.
In 1928, Clnica Sant Jordi started doing business when the company Cafés Debray rented out an old neoclassical tower.
In 1929, Dr. Pere Màrtir Cararach Rivera, who had just finished his doctorate in Madrid, and Francisco Prats Jovés, who was in charge of running a business and was an expert on mutual problems, met.
With this addition to the team, Clnica Sant Jordi becomes more stable and turns into a health insurance company with its own center to take care of its customers. At that time, the care system had services for general surgery, general medicine, ophthalmology, gastroenterology, dermatology, otolaryngology, and otorhinolaryngology. It also had services for laboratories and radiology.
From the time it opened until now, which is more than 80 years, Clnica Sant Jordi has grown in all ways: physically, with the addition of new services, and in terms of care, with services that have always been based on prevention, treatment, and recovery. And the future development project of the center will make sure that it keeps growing.
One thing we’ve learned after being locked up and worried for weeks about the COVID-19 pandemic is that regular life as we knew it will never come back. In fact, it shows that there is a “new normal” in which all interactions between people have changed. We all look at physical touch, greetings, and hugs with suspicion, even though they used to be a sign of how friendly we are as a society.
So, our relationships with hospitals and health care workers have also changed. In this way, a lot has changed. One thing that may be very important is that before the pandemic, wearing safety gear like gloves or a mask in the health field was a sign of risk and danger. Instead, a mask and gloves are used today to protect the patient’s health and keep them safe.
Safety is the most important thing, so if you go to one of our hospitals, you’ll see that we’ve taken a lot of steps in that way. HM Hospitals has taken a number of steps and changed its centers to give patients low-exposure COVID circuits in entrances, corridors, waiting rooms, elevators, and counters with protective screens that are clearly marked and have safety distance indicators and other recommendations:
During the consultations, our staff will help you while wearing a mask, gloves, and face shields to keep you and the health workers safe. Services for cleaning and sanitizing have also been stepped up.
Appointments can also be made over the phone or through the website. In fact, each patient will get a receipt of their visit to the hospital in their email, which they can use to explain to the officials why they are leaving.
You should only bring a mask from home for safety. We’ll handle the rest.
At HM Hospitals, our main goal has always been and will always be to keep our patients healthy. This is why we offer the highest level of safety and peace of mind. So, the Group’s hospitals and polyclinics are safe and trusted places where all the care that needs to be done can be done.
At the Admission Service, the person in charge of making you feel welcome at the clinic will tell you all the rules you need to follow for admission, release, and/or voluntary discharge. In conclusion, don’t forget the following:
The following papers will be given to you by your doctor and nurse staff:
We are able to demonstrate our dedication to providing care that is centered on the needs of the patient and highlight the positive difference that we have made in the lives of our patients.
